This is a piece I have used in two contexts.
The first was strictly artistic (as for the previous one). The second was an experiment in advertising, contrived for an important italian company that makes products for young children. I was inspired and kept myself faithfully to the slogan! As much as provocative or denigratory the association between this piece and that slogan may appear, the impulse was too strong and the motivations just as violent. It is not my fault if at times I make the mistake of believing in the "good faith" of human beings, in particular when minors are involved. Thanks to the photographs contributed by Giovanni Ratta, together with those from Associated Press, the making of "Waiting for Santa Claus" was made possible, where a barbed wire symbolizes a barrier between children who all share same wishes. Si tratta di un’opera che ho usato in 2 contesti.
Il primo, strettamente artistico, (come sopra). Il secondo, adattandola a una sperimentazione pubblicitaria pensata per un’importante casa italiana di prodotti per l’infanzia, in quanto ispirato e attenutomi fedelmente allo slogan. Per quanto provocatoria o denigratoria possa apparire l’associazione tra lo slogan e l’opera in questione, la spinta è stata troppo forte e le motivazioni altrettanto violente. Non è colpa mia se alle volte cado nell’errore di credere alla “buona fede” degli esseri umani, in particolare quando di mezzo ci sono i minori. Grazie all’apporto delle foto di Giovanni Ratta, unite a quelle dell’Associated Press, si è resa possibile la realizzazione di “Waiting for Santa Claus” dove un filo spinato simboleggia una divisione tra bambini che invece sono accomunati dagli stessi desideri. In questo caso ... che Babbo Natale arrivi per tutti.
