The city of Cascia has a millennial history and many of its signs are still impressed in the territory and illustrated by many archaeological relics such as archive documents and epigrams.
Is very probable that its origins date back to the foundation of Rome and its people worked for the foundation of the growing capital.
The most important proofs of this archaic period are preserved in the museum of Palazzo Santi in Cascia and in other Italian and foreign museums.
Some recent archaeological discoveries show how Cascia and its territory was a relevant center during th e Roman age and The emperor Vespasiano seem to be of Cascia origins.
In the year 63 the city of Cascia was destroyed and then rebuilt. But with the fault of the Roman empire began a long series of dominations and destructions from the Goti, Longobardi, Saraceni.

If we talk about Cascia we can't forget to mention Saint Rita. This noon, beatified in 1990, was born in 1381 and died in 1457.
Today, Saint Rita is known as dispenser of clemency and is venerated in the whole world while many pilgrims, every year, come to Cascia to pray during the celebrations in the Sanctuary consecrated to her.
Is incredible and impressive to see how her body is still preserved intact and untouched into a crystal urn.
