In the minds of most Italians, and not theirs only, these faces evoke the very picture of Infamy. "I don't find the death penalty
to be cruel at all. It's all about pointing the finger at the predators
of society. If, just like during sport events on TV where one can follow
the score in a corner of the screen, every time people argue about those
condemned to die the pictures of their victims were shown, people would
understand that executions are nothing but the righteous revenge of
society, morally justified. I would not define the act of putting to
death a condemned person to be "murder", the meaning of this
word refers to a senseless killing, not to when it's about revenge.” “Unfortunately, man is such a damn imperfect being, and judges still make mistakes.”

pena di morte. Si tratta di puntare il dito contro i predatori della
società. Se, come avviene per lo sport durante le partite, quando
si vedono in un angolo dello schermo i punti, si mostrassero ogni volta
che si parla di condannati a morte le fotografie delle loro vittime,
la gente capirebbe che le esecuzioni non sono altro che una vendetta
della società, moralmente giustificata. Non definirei assassino
mettere a morte un condannato, il significato di questa parola si riferisce
ad un'uccisione senza ragione, non a quando si vendica qualcuno.” “..ma purtroppo l’uomo è un essere maledettamente imperfetto, e i giudici continuano a sbagliare.” |
