There are still regions of the world where the only central role a woman can have is contributing financially through prostitution, and when her performance stops short of being satisfactory, the price she has to pay can be death itself.
When one day an Oriental man told me, with a satisfied look on his face and while buying me a drink, that the role of their women did not go much beyond serving and homaging men, he was quite sincerely disappointed to learn from me that in my country things went "slightly" differently.

Esistono ancora zone del mondo in cui la donna non vive un ruolo centrale se non per il suo apporto economico legato alla prostituzione, e quando il suo rendimento non arriva ad essere soddisfacente, il prezzo da pagare per lei può arrivare ad essere anche la morte.
Quando un giorno un uomo orientale, offrendomi da bere e con aria soddisfatta, mi disse che il ruolo delle loro donne non andava troppo oltre il doverli servire e riverire, ci rimase sinceramente male quando gli confessai che nel mio Paese le cose andavano in maniera “leggermente” diversa.
