Capo Vaticano
This is a real pearl in the Tirrenian sea.
Located in front of Stromboli and the Aeolian islands, the promontory of Capo Vaticano divides the gulf of Sant’Eufemia from that of Gioia Tauro and includes the coastal area that extends from the Tono bay to the Santa Maria bay, up to the last ramifications of the Monte Poro.
The crystal clear waters, the white and secluded beaches and a fascinating succession of breathtaking views overlooking a sea of the most intense shades, make Capo Vaticano one of the most precious gems of Tyrrhenian Calabria. A well-known French magazine did not hesitate to elect it as the third most beautiful beach in Italy and to include it in the ranking of the hundred most beautiful beaches in the world.
Imposing rocks that stand out on the sea, uncontaminated sceneries covered with vegetation rich in rare and fascinating species, populous seabeds and panoramic views that extend as far as the eye can see as far as Sicily and the Aeolian Islands make it a destination to see at least once in the life.
The world fame long since acquired by the promontory from which the tourist resort takes its name, is not only due to the enviable geographical position or its history with mythological implications that tells of how once, in a cave, an oracle that offered responses to the requests of the sailors who had to take to the sea. The beautiful hill overlooking the sea also arouses considerable academic interest among scholars from all over the world attracted by the geological nature of the magnificent white-gray granite of which it is made.
